OMIO Group acquires Rail Europe

The world’s leading multimodal travel company has entered into exclusive negociations to acquire Rail Europe

Omio Group has entered into an agreement to acquire Rail Europe, a distribution platform specialising in business-to-business (B2B) train ticket distribution.

This deal aims to merge Omio's technology and inventory with Rail Europe's international distribution network.

The group will bring together approximately 680 employees across several offices worldwide (Berlin, Paris, Singapore, Prague, Mumbai, Shanghai, Melbourne, and Bangalore) and will sell 22 million train tickets annually.

There will be no immediate changes on the Rail Europe side, and the brand will retain its name. Omio Group will integrate this professional network into its existing portfolio, made up of its consumer-facing platform Omio, its own B2B division, and the route comparison tool Rome2Rio.

Leadership on both sides describe this deal as complementary, with Rail Europe offering commercial channels, expertise and brand heritage, and Omio offering technology, inventory, multimodality and B2C expertise, aiming to combine Rail Europe's international coverage with Omio's booking technologies. This consolidation is taking place in a global rail market projected to reach $300 billion in value by 2032.
