Mapp sold to KPMG

The French leader in microeconomic analysis services is sold to the Big Four auditor

Founded in 2007, MAPP has built a reputation as France's leading provider of economic analysis in the field of competition and antitrust. The firm specialises in economic analysis of markets and the competitive strategies of businesses, and the range of analytical techniques conducted in the context of proceedings before competition authorities and courts, in particular the European Commission, the French Competition Authority and courts of appeals in various jurisdictions. MAPP has worked with many French and foreign multinationals from a wide array of sectors, assisting with the preparation and notification of mergers filings as well as advising on legal disputes involving competition law. In recent years, MAPP's activities have expanded to include the assessment in civil litigation cases brought before commercial courts or arbitration tribunals.

MAPP’s management and their 20 highly-qualified colleagues are excited and proud to be joining KPMG, opening up an exciting new chapter in MAPP's development.

These new capacities will be a valuable addition to KPMG's Deal Advisory services in France. KPMG already has strong Economics teams in the UK and Spain, and experts in several other countries. The teams work closely with clients to facilitate strategic decision-making and boost their market insight, drawing on a range of economic and econometric techniques as well as complex data analytics.

This acquisition sees KPMG continuing to pursue its ambitious growth objectives, accelerating the development of the firm's consultancy expertise.

For Anne Perrot, President of MAPP, "Joining KPMG will allow MAPP to take its development to the next level. The strength and reputation of KPMG in Deal Advisory activities, as well as the potential for synergy with the Economics divisions in the UK and Spain, will help to make us a major force at European level, providing invaluable services to our clients, not least with the European Commission. The combination of KPMG's financial analysis capacities and our expertise in micro-economic and econometric analysis will also lead to innovative new opportunities in terms of damage assessments. We're very excited about the new horizons opened up by this deal."

"This acquisition is a major boost to our M&A support services. Thanks to MAPP's expertise, we can offer clients a clear and pertinent analysis of the strategic challenges they face in terms of competition. In addition to a wealth of market-approved expertise, we are thrilled to welcome a team who share the values and culture of KPMG, a fundamental requirement for the success of operations like this one." explains Axel Rebaudières, member of KPMG France's executive committee and head of Deal Advisory operations.

Nicola Mazzarotto, KPMG's Global Head of Economics based in London, adds: "The acquisition of MAPP is a key step in the growth of KPMG Economics services. Anne, David, Laurent and the whole MAPP team are not only leaders in the French market but also have a very strong track record in EU and international work. By adding MAPP's capabilities to KPMG's existing economics teams in the UK and Spain, and broader network of economists, we're positioning KPMG as one of Europe's leading Economics consulting firms and one with real differentiation in terms of its offering in M&A, lnvestigations, and strategy work."
